When You Walk Into Our Home, We Hope You Feel Loved

When people ask what matters most to me (Meg), my answer is actually pretty simple.

Kindness. I believe you never really know what someone else may be going through, so it's important to treat people with kindness, patience, and love whenever you can. That's true whether I'm spending time with family, catching up with friends, or welcoming someone into our home.

I've always wanted our home to be the kind of place where people can be their real selves. No pressure. No judgment. Just a place where people feel comfortable, accepted, and loved for exactly who they are.

To me, some of the best memories aren't the big milestones. They're the simple moments that make you smile years later. A family dinner. A birthday cake shared around the table. A kitchen full of laughter. Friends stopping by unexpectedly and staying longer than planned. Those are the moments that stay with you.

One tradition I especially love is celebrating birthdays. There is something special about gathering together to celebrate someone you love and making sure they know how much they mean to you.

Another tradition that is close to my heart is making homemade chocolate with family and friends. We spend time together, laugh, make memories, and make sure everyone leaves with a basket full of sweets. It's not really about the chocolate. It's about being together.

Food has always been one of the ways I show love.

I love cooking for family and friends and creating opportunities for people to gather around the table. Some of my favorite memories growing up were made in the kitchen, and those experiences still shape the way I think about home today.

When someone walks through our front door, I want them to feel welcomed from the moment they arrive. That might mean having their favorite drink ready. Making sure they have something to eat. Checking in to see how they're doing. Or simply letting them know they're loved.

The details may be small, but they matter. Because home isn't really about the furniture, the decorations, or even the house itself. It's about how people feel when they're there.

The people I feel closest to are the ones I can completely be myself around. They're the people who make me laugh, support me through life's challenges, and make ordinary days feel special.

That's the kind of environment we hope to create for our child. A home where they feel safe. A home where they feel accepted. A home where they know they are loved exactly as they are.

If there's one thing I hope our child always remembers, it's not a specific gift or holiday.

It's the feeling of being surrounded by people who care about them, celebrate them, and make them feel like they belong. Because when we look back on life's best moments, those are usually the memories that matter most.
